We have strong links with the local community and church. We have frequent visits from
the School Liaison Police Officer and the Fire Service. We issue regular press releases to
the local newspapers and have links with a number of companies and stores. The public
library is not far away and several classes make visits to the nearby shops and park as
part of their ongoing work.
Charitable works at our school include support for the following (all during
the Autumn Term 2008)

Demelza House

|
We have been supporting
Demelza House for several years now. You will be interested to know that they officially
opened in June 1998 and welcomed their first families on 7th September.
Demelza House caters for children up to the age of 19, all of whom have
life-threatening illnesses which will not improve and who are unlikely to reach adulthood.
The hospice has a home from home environment catering for the needs of the whole family.
It also provides respite care. It serves Kent and the South East and will take over
£1.25m per year to run as no charge is made to the families who use it.
After our nativity play at St Mary's church we had a collection for
Demelza House and raised £218.97 When the choir sung at the library we
also had a collection for Demelza House and raised £18. |

providing a gift to a child who is suffering from the effects of war, natural disaster,
poverty, illness or neglect in various parts of the world.

children in eastern Europe or Africa. We managed to donate 131 boxes.
