On Friday 19th May we welcomed the family of Mr Dunk, a well loved and respected governor of Highfield Infants' School, who passed away in December 2016. Mrs Dunk and their three children, Jay, Chris and Marilyn, came to officially open Mr Dunk's Reading Chair. Mr Dunk was a strong advocate of literacy and gave invaluable time to support our children in developing their reading skills. The reading chair overlooks the children playing and provides a place for the children to delve into a story during their play. It allows our community to remember Mr Dunk fondly and the enormous contribution he made to our school. During their visit Mrs Dunk presented the school with a cheque for £1,000 to buy books for the children and continue to champion literacy as part of Mr Dunk's legacy.
